Welcome to the Impact Report!

Never let go of your dreams ...

As I continuously strategize about the direction Team Impact is headed, I always keep my dreams in mind. My dream to end homelessness by elevating people’s awareness about the working poor -- our commitment to economic development. My dream to tell stories that make people smile by connecting with and relating to women, African Americans, Latinos and Asians -- our commitment to diversity and inclusion. My dream to inspire trust and confidence amongst millennials, gen-zers and baby boomers by sharing stories about the great work companies and individuals are engaged in to eliminate disparities and encourage equity -- our commitment to healthcare, business development and education.

These dreams motivate me to motivate others. So, what’s the point I’m making? Infuse your dreams into your business strategy and you will be forever inspired to succeed.

Keep Dreaming!

– Cheryl McCants, president & CEO

Impact Updates

Impact welcomes new client, Griot Storyteller Media, to the family. Griot (gree’-oh) is a New Jersey-based, media production and services company. Its mission is to blend the power of the performing arts with healthcare in a manner that promotes healing, particularly in the area of mental health. Impact will promote The Stoic Man, a 15-minute mental-health awareness video that speaks directly to the needs of African-American men.

Impact is thrilled to coach summer 2019 interns, Wura Ogunnowo and Morgan Ulrich.

Wura graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Design from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where she will return in the fall to pursue her master’s. Wura’s eye for design is essential for her role as our digital marketing intern, as she designs unique and eye-catching content for diverse populations.

Morgan is a rising senior at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, where she studies English and music. As our media relations and marketing communications intern, she utilizes her writing and editing background to help Impact and its clients tell compelling and engaging business stories.

Watch Us Work

In mid-April, Impact President and CEO Cheryl McCants presented at the 5th Annual Global Women in Leadership Summit in New York City. She discussed how to build and maintain your personal brand and value proposition. Participants came from as far away as Germany.

Later in the month, Cheryl connected with students in the Montclair State University entrepreneurship program. She shared her unique experiences, perspectives, and challenges with the students, while giving them insight into overcoming the obstacles that can make their business-ownership dreams a reality.

Impact cosponsored the Newark Regional Business Partnership’s (NRBP's) Inaugural Intercultural Lunch: Exploring Islam. Attendees learned about Islamic beliefs and enjoyed delicious Halal food before returning to work with a better understanding of their colleagues.

Impact Operations Manager Dominique Bryant and Digital Content & Communication Manager Justine Hunter joined Cheryl at NRBP’s Newark Insiders Forum: Mainstays of Newark. They gained new insights into the future of the city’s business economy from Newark’s industry leaders.

Impact proudly provided marketing and promotional support for the NY & NJ Minority Supplier and Development Council’s (The Council) 23rd annual Networking for Scholarships Golf Outing at the prestigious Montclair Golf Club. The Impact team and clients enjoyed a pleasant day of golfing and networking, all while contributing to the scholarship fund for Council-certified businesses.

Team Impact attended the 2019 WBENC National Conference & Business Fair in Baltimore, Maryland. WBENC hosts the largest conference of its kind for women business owners and provided the perfect forum for Impact to develop novel and innovative business ideas, acquire new clients, and steward existing ones.

Cheryl recently presented, “Designing the Perfect Digital Campaign,” the third installment of Rutgers Newark Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) 360 Integrated Digital Marketing Series. She taught small business owners how to create an integrated marketing campaign/program across multiple digital platforms.

On the Impact Horizon

This July, Cheryl will lead a daylong session as part of Rutgers Newark SBDC’s Smart Business Plan Workshop. This 20-hour business plan writing course helps startups and established entrepreneurs create a comprehensive business/action plan. This workshop is offered over the course of four Fridays during the summer.
